Amid the ongoing turmoil over the quota reform movement across the country, miscreants set two passenger buses on fire in front of the National Press Club on Tuesday night.
Shah Jahan Mia, duty officer at the control room of the Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters, confirmed the matter, saying that the buses caught fire around 8:25pm.
Police have remained absolutely mum however, on who may have been the responsible party in that connection.
No casualties have been reported in this connection till now. But the day has already been by far the deadliest, and most damaging, of the entire movement.
After a student of Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur became officially the first victim of the movement from either side, five more were killed over the course of the day.
The highest, three deaths were in Chattogram, two died in Dhaka, and one in Barishal, in clashes between them and the indigenous peoples. —UNB
