Five commit suicide in five dists

Five people including two women allegedly committed suicide in separate incidents in five districts - Sherpur, Kushtia, Narayanganj, Naogaon and Bagerhat, in four days.

NALITABARI, SHERPUR: A housewife reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself in Nalitabari Upazila of the district on Saturday night over dowry.

The incident happened in Bishgiri Para Village under Ramchondrokura Union of the upazila at around 10 pm.  

The deceased was identified as Zannatul Ferdousi Sumiya, daughter of Abu Bakr Siddique of the area.

It was known that Sumiya developed a relationship with Shipon, a resident of Sherpur Sadar Upazila, and married him eight months back. 

Since their marriage, they used to quarrel with each other as Shipon demanded Tk eight lakh as dowry.

After that, Sumaiya went her fathers house during the last Eid-ul-Fitr and had been living there.
On Saturday night, she hanged herself with a scarf from the ceiling of her room leaving a seven-page suicide note. 

ON information, police recovered the body and sent it to Sherpur Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nalitabari Police Station (PS) Monirul Islam Bhuiyan confirmed the incident.
 
DAULATPUR, KUSHTIA: A young man reportedly committed suicide in Daulatpur Upazila of the district early Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Pori Das, 30, son of Monir Das, a resident of Das Para in Pipulbaria Village under the upazila. 

Local and the deceaseds family sources said Pori Das consumed poison in the house at around 2 am. Sensing the matter, the family members rescued him and took to Kushtia General Hospital, where the on-duty doctor referred the youth to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) following the deterioration of his condition.

Later on, he died on the way to the RMCH in the morning. 
Being informed, police recovered the body.

Daulatpur PS OC Mahbubur Rahman confirmed the incident, adding that necessary steps would be taken in this regard. 

NARAYANGANJ: A young man reportedly committed suicide in Siddhirganj PS area of the district on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Md Abid Hasan, 28, son of Md Amal Hossain, a resident of Godnail Noyapara area under Siddhirganj PS. 

Sub-Inspector (SI) of Siddhirganj PS Al Islam said Abid had been suffering from mental instability for long. Following this, he hanged himself from the ceiling of his room in the house in the morning. 

Being informed, police recovered the body and handed it over to the deceaseds family members without an autopsy as per their request, the SI added.

Siddhirganj PS OC Mohammad Abu Bakar Siddique confirmed the incident. 
PORSHA, NAOGAON: An ethnic youth reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself in Porsha Upazila of the district on Wednesday morning. 

Deceased Rupen, 25, was the son of Kabiraj, a resident of Monoharpur Village in the upazila.
It was known that Rupen hanged himself from the ceiling of his room in the house in the morning. 
Being informed, police recovered the body.

However, the reason behind his committing suicide could not be known immediately.
Porsha PS OC (Investigation) Shah Alam confirmed the incident. 
 
BAGERHAT: A housewife allegedly committed suicide in Morrelganj Upazila of the district on Wednesday. 
Deceased Tania Akhter, 22, was the wife of Nayeem Sheikh, a resident of Pashchim Amurbunia Village in the upazila. 

It was known that Tania got married with Nayeem about seven months back following a love affair. Since then, she lived at Pashchim Amurbunia. 

At around 11:30 am on Wednesday, Tania hanged herself with a scarf from the ceiling of her room as his husband left the house alone for Chattogram. 

Sensing the matter, her mother-in-law rescued Tania and took to neighbouring Mongla Upazila Health Complex with the help of locals, where the on-duty doctor declared her dead.  
  
Being informed, police recovered the body from Mongla Hospital and sent it to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Mongla PS OC KM Azizul Islam confirmed the incident.
