After chasing, agitators dispersed, BCL takes position at VC square

Dhaka University students agitating for quota reform have dispersed after clashing with Chhatra League leaders and activists. After retreating from their chase, the BCL leaders and activists are now standing in the VC square of the university and chanting slogans.

From 4 pm on Monday (July 15), BCL leaders and activists were seen takinf position at VC square. Apart from this, some leaders and activists are coming around the various roads of the university with processions.
In an immediate reaction at the premises, General Secretary of Dhaka University Chhatra League Tanveer Hasan Saikat said that identified terrorists of Jamaat-Shibir and BNP entered various halls and carried out vandalism and attacks. At least 25 leaders and activists of BCL were injured. They have been taken to different hospitals. 'We want a fair trial. If the government does not do this justice, the BCL will respond of it', he added.

At noon, the agitators called a rally at Raju Memorial Sculpture of the university. At around 2:30, news spread to the gathering place that students of the Bijay Ekattor Hall had been confined and attacked. Excited by this, some students started procession from there towards Bijay Ekatar Hall.

Around 3pm, BCL men, equipped with sticks, started throwing brick bats to the protesting students from inside locking the hall gate. The protestors also retaliated with the sticks and threw brick chips.

At that time, some motorcycles were seen lying in vandalized condition at the gate of the hall.

After the Bijay Ekatar Hall, the BCL leaders and activists chased with the agitators at Mall Chattar. The agitators chased the BCL leaders and activists there. Some of them ran towards Fuller Road, some went towards Nilkhet. At that time, some of the protestors were beaten up.

Currently, the entire campus situation is at a standstill. However, Bijay Ekatar Hall, Zia Hall, Bangabandhu Hall and Masterda Surja Sen Hall are occupied by BCL leaders and activists.
