Two Bangladeshi youths have reportedly been shot dead and another injured by the members of the Indian Khasia community along the Companiganj Upazila border in Sylhet.
Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB)'s Kalairag border outpost officials and it's media wing, acknowledging the matter said the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon on the other side of Nazirergaon Kawartuk 1253 Pillar.
The deceased are Ali Hossain, 30, son of the late Fazar Ali, and Kawsar Ahmed, 25, son of the late Sundar Ali, both from Kalairag Karbalatuk village. The injured was Nabi Hussain of the same village.
According to sources, Ali Hussain, Kawsar and Nabi Hussain entered India sometime on Sunday to smuggle goods from across the border. At 3pm, it was reported that Ali Hussain and Kaushar Ahmad were shot dead by Indian ‘Khasias’.
After some time, Nabi Hussain came back seriously injured. Later, family member took Nabi to the doctor.
Fakhrul Mia, a member of Ward No-2 of North Ranikhai Union Parishad of the upazila, acknowledging the incident said he saw the bodies of the victims lying at the border area of Nazirergaon Karbalatuk.
A flag meeting was held between BGB and BSF. The bodies are in BGB custody.
