A total of 51 people have been detained on different charges in separate drives in nine districts - Cumilla, Sherpur, Noakhali, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Chattogram, Khulna, Sunamganj, Dinajpur and Bagerhat, in recent times.
CUMILLA: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a madrasa teacher on charge of violating a third-grade female student in Daudkandi Upazila of the on Thursday night.
The arrested man is Nasir Patwary, a resident of Khalisha Village under Daudkandi Upazila of the district.
He was arrested during a drive conducted by RAB-11 and RAB-10 in Hazaribagh area of Dhaka.
RAB-11 officials confirmed the information at its office at Shaktala in Cumilla on Friday.
Lieutenant Commander Mahmudul Hasan, company commander of RAB-11 CPC-2 (Cumilla Camp), said that due to rain, most students were absent from the madrasa on the day of the incident. Nasir lived with his family in a house behind the madrasa. On July 4, Nasirs family members were not at home and he called the eight-year-old victim to his house under the pretext of helping with cleaning. Once the victim went inside, Nasir locked the door, and violated her there.
During the incident, when the victim screamed, Nasir threatened to kill her if she revealed the matter to anyone. After returning home, the victim was visibly distressed and eventually disclosed the incident to her family, he said.
Being informed about the incident, the victims mother filed a case with Daudkandi Model Police Station (PS) against Nasir.
Upon learning about the case, Nasir went into hiding in Dhaka. However, following the case, RAB utilised technology to locate and arrest Nasir from Dhaka, said the commander.
Later on, the arrested was handed over to Daudkandi PS, the RAB official added.
Confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Daudkandi Model PS Mozammel Haque said that the arrested would be produced before the court on Saturday morning.
NALITABARI, SHERPUR: Police arrested a school teacher for trying to violate a six grader girl in Nalitabari Upazila of the district on Wednesday night.
The arrested man is Rezaul Karim, 45, a librarian of Shamas Chura High School in Nalitabari and a local leader of Awami League. He also runs a pharmacy at Shamas Chura Bazar.
It was known that the girl went to Rezaul Karims house to take medicine for headache on Wednesday morning. Then, he took the girl to the pharmacy for giving medicine.
Rezaul touched the girls body with bad intention at the pharmacy and tried to violate her. Then, the girl screamed understanding the motive of Rezaul and he left her.
The girls shared this incident with her family members after going home.
On Wednesday afternoon, the victims mother filed a case with Nalitabari PS as they did not get any solution from the school in the matter.
Following the case, police arrested Rezaul at night and produced him before a court on Thursday.

NOAKHALI: A total of 10 robbers were detained in separate drives in Sadar and Begumganj upazilas of the district recently.
Three members of a cross-district group of robbers were arrested by police from near Super Market area in the district town on Tuesday night.
The arrested men are: Yousof alias Chora Kala, 34, hails from Laxmipur District; Abdul Mannan Sohag alias Badda, 30, a resident of Sonaimuri Upazila, and Ujjal, 32, a resident of Mirwarishpur Union under Begumganj Upazila in Noakhali District.
Noakhali Sadar PS OC Mir Jahedul Haque Roni said that acting on this tip-off, a team of the law enforcers conducted a drive in Maijdee Town at night, and arrested the trio from adjacent to Noakhali Super Market. At that time, police also recovered a shotgun and five cartridges from their possession.
Following the incident, two separate cases have been filed against them with the PS for preparing to commit robbery, the OC added.
On the other hand, police arrested seven robbers along with an LG and a pipe gun from Begumganj Upazila in the district recently.
The arrested men are: Md Kamal, 43, Md Shamim, 22, Md Raihan, 28, Md Miraz, 22, Md Sharif, 27, Md Helaluddin, 21, and Md Salauddin, 26. All of them are residents of Noakhali, Lakshmipur and Bhola districts.
Police sources said on information, the law enforcers conducted a drive in Lalpur area of the upazila and detained the robbers along with LG, pipe gun, ornaments and sharp weapons.
After filing of two cases with Begumganj PS, the arrested robbers were produced before the court.
Begumganj PS OC Md Anwarul Islam confirmed the matter.
RAJSHAHI: Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP), in separate drives in the city, arrested a total of 32 people from Monday evening till Tuesday morning.
Among the arrested, 12 had arrest warrant, 12 were drug addicts and the rest eight were arrested on various charges.
During the drives, 215 grams of hemp, 17 grams of heroin, six bottles of phensedyl syrup and four bottles of liquor were seized from the possession of those who were arrested for drug addiction.
RMP Additional Deputy Police Commissioner (Sadar) Mohammad Zamirul islam confirmed the information through a press release on Tuesday morning.
The arrested people have been sent to jail following the court order, the RMP official added.
HALUAGHAT, MYMENSINGH: Police arrested a social media influencer on charge of violating a 15-year-old girl under the pretext of marriage in Haluaghat Upazila of the district on Tuesday.
The arrested person is Ismail, a resident of West Kailanikanda Village under the upazila. He is a content creator at TikTok.
Quoting the case statement, police said Ismail had been violating the minor girl for the last 5 to 6 months, keeping the teenage girl at his home, promising to marry her. When the victims family pressured Ismail to marry her, he threatened to kill them. On the night of July 6 last, Ismail raped the girl last at her home in Khandakpara Village and threatened of her life before leaving.
Later on, the victims mother filed a complaint with Haluaghat PS against Ismail.
Following the complaint, Sub-Inspector (SI) Saiduzzaman along with his team conducted an operation in West Kailanikanda area in the morning of July 9, and arrested Ismail.
The victims mother and uncle alleged that they had complained to local authorities and neighbours about the incident and expected to resolve the matter through mediation, which made them to delay to file the complaint with the PS.
They also mentioned that they work as domestic helpers and Ismail took the advantage of their absence to rape their daughter under false promises of marriage. They demanded justice from the authorities.
Confirming the matter, Haluaghat PS OC Muhammad Mahbubul Haque said Ismail claims the girl is his second wife but has not provided any evidence.
Legal actions will be taken in this regard, the OC added.
CHATTOGRAM: A janitor of a college was arrested allegedly for violating a 19-year-old HSC examinee by holding her hostage in the district on June 30 last.
The accused Mosharraf Hossain, 30, was arrested from Feni by Chawkbazar Police and sent to Chattogram Central Jail.
The incident came to light on Tuesday when the college dismissed him from his post.
According to case statement, the student went to the college on June 27 last to collect her HSC exam admit card. At around 11:30 am, Mosharraf saw her with a friend near the washroom on the fourth floor of the academic building. He threatened to inform the principal and her family about them, causing her to panic.
Mosharraf then offered to take her home but instead, he took her to a hotel in the city, where he violated her in a room.
Later on, the student filed a rape case with Chawkbazar PS on June 29 following the incident.
Chawkbazar PS OC Wali Uddin Akbar confirmed the matter, adding that investigation is ongoing in this regard.
KHULNA: A court here granted five-day remand of two alleged killers of Sharafpur Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Robiul Islam Robi murder case.
Earlier, Police placed the two arrested criminals before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court with 10 day-remand appeal but Ishrat Zahan Tamanna, judge of the court, granted five-day remand to each criminal, court sources said.
Earlier on Monday, Detective Branch (DB) of Police conducted a drive at the office of Biswas Properties following a murder case of Sheikh Robiul Islam Robi, chairman of Sharafpur UP of Dumuria Upazila in the district.
Police arrested Azgor Biswas Tara, owner of Biswas Properties, on charge of killing Robi, Superintendent of Police (SP) Sayedur Rahman confirmed.
DB Police also seized a shotgun, a toy pistol, a revolver like gas lighter, 57 rounds of live bullets and nine rounds of empty cartridges from his office.
Tara, also a member of District Unit Awami League, contested election for chairman post of Dumuria Upazila Parishad held on June 9, 2024. He was defeated by former chairman and Al leader Ezaz Ahmed with a few votes.
Police continue drives in different areas along with Tara Biswas, and later, arrested Towhidur Rahman Babu alias killer Babu.
Earlier, Robiul Islam was gunned down at WAPDA intersection of Gutudia Village of Dumuria Upazila by unidentified miscreants. He was rushed to the Dumuria Health Complex with several bullet injuries. Later on, he was shifted to Khulna Medical College Hospital for better treatment, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Shaila Erin, wife of Robiul Islam, filed a case the following day accusing five named and 6 to 8 unnamed people with Dumuria PS.
SUNAMGANJ: Police arrested a young man in a case filed over violating an 11-year-old child from Dowarabazar Upazila in the district recently.
The arrested man is Tofazzal, 22, a resident of Lakshmipur Village under Lakshmipur Union in the upazila.
Earlier, Tofazzal went to the girls house and violated her there was no one there except the girl. Then, the girl tactfully fled the house and took shelter a neighbours house.
The girl is now undergoing treatment at Sunamganj Sadar Hospital.
Later on, father of the victim filed a case with Dowarabazar PS in this regard.
Following the case, police arrested the accused within a short period of time from Lakshmipur area in the upazila.
Dowarabazar PS OC Badrul Hasan confirmed the matter, adding that the arrested have been produced before the court.
GHORAGHAT, DINAJPUR: Police arrested a young man over violating a six-year-old child in Ghoraghat Upazila of the district recently.
The arrested man is Sazu Mia, 25, a resident of Loharbondo Village in the upazila.
The incident happened at Loharbondo under Ghoraghatt Upazila in the district.
It was known that the accused took the victim tactfully in his house while the girl returning home from her friends house. Then, he violated the girl forcefully as there was no one in the house.
After that, the girl returned her home with bleeding and she was taken to a local clinic. Later on, she was referred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital as her condition deteriorated.
The victims father lodged a case with Ghoraghat PS in this regard the next day.
Following the case, police arrested the accused and sent him to the jail.
Ghoraghat PS OC Asaduzzaman Asad confirmed the matter.
MORRELGANJ, BAGERHAT: Police arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly violating a fourth grader in Morrelganj Upazila of the district recently.
The arrested man is Mehedi Hasan, a resident of Morrelganj Municipality.
Harunur Rashid, head teacher of Baraikhali Government Primary School in the municipality, said that Mehedi tactfully took a fourth-grader girl at an unused house of Nishanbaria Union in the upazila while she was returning to home alone after completing classes. Later on, he violated the girl forcefully in the house.
"After knowing this incident, I filed a case with Morrelganj PS in this regard", said Harunur Rashid.
Following the case, police arrested accused Mehedi after filing of a case with the PS. Later on, he was produced before the court. The victim was taken to a hospital for medical test.
Morrelganj PS OC Md Shamsuddin confirmed the matter, adding that legal action would be taken in this regard.
