All  vegetable prices go up in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, July 14: Green chilli and onion prices did not come down in the district while vegetable prices continue to increase.
Chilli and onion started to sell at higher prices before Eid-ul-Azha; and now on the plea of the rainy season, their prices have gone up. 
Vegetable prices increased by Tk 10-20 per kilogram (KG) while meat and fish prices are stable. 
On Saturday,  per kg local onion was selling at Tk 110-120 at different bazaars in the city while imported ones were selling at Tk 90-100. 
At present, per kg onion is selling at Tk 240-260.
Per kg potato is selling at Tk 60, ginger and garlic each at Tk 240-280, bitter gourd at Tk 50, brinjal and papaya each at Tk 60, long bean at Tk 80, carrot at Tk 100, cucumber at Tk 80, okra at Tk 60, sweet pumpkin at Tk 50, ridge gourd and wild snake gourd each at Tk 50, drum stick at Tk 80, pointed gourd at Tk 50, arum at Tk 80, and bottle gourd at Tk 40.
Egg, broiler hen and meats are selling at usual prices of the last week; in the last week per kg broiler hen was selling at Tk 180, Sonali hen at Tk 300, beef at Tk 750, and mutton at Tk 1,100.
Per haali red (four pieces) eggs is selling at Tk 48 while white ones is selling at Tk 46.
A transport worker Manik Mia who came to Sagorpara to purchase vegetables said, green chilli and onion prices are not decreasing; sellers are charging higher price of each item.
"We have to purchase these at their asked prices in compelling situation," he added.
But sellers said, "As we purchase at higher prices, we have to sell at higher prices."
Vegetable seller Insan Ali said, mainly due to destructions of raining vegetable production and supply were hampered, pushing up prices. "We have also to purchase at higher prices," he added.
Making no change of pruce, pangas fish is selling at Tk 200-220 per kg, Tilapia at Tk 220-240, farmed Shing (stinging cat fish) at Tk 480-500, ruhi at Tk 320-350, farmed Koi (climbing fish) at Tk 300,  local cat fish (small) at Tk 600-700, and butter fish at Tk 300-350. 
Big Shol (stripped snakehead) is selling at Tk 900 per kg, shrimp at Tk 800, carp at Tk 320-350, shark water fish at Tk 700-800, small Tengra (small catfish) at Tk 500-600.
