A man was killed and 12 others were injured in a head-on collision between two buses at Fakirhat upazila in Bagerhat district on Saturday morning.
The accident took place at around 6:30am on the Dhaka-Khulna highway in Faltita area in the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Shridhar Ganguly, hailing from Devogram in Gopalganj's Kotalipara upazila.
It was learnt that a Dhaka-bound bus belonging to Dola Paribahan collided head-on with a bus of Rajib Paribahan, coming from the opposite direction, in the area. After the collision, the Dola Paribihin bus fell into a roadside ditch.
A man died on the spot and at least 12 passengers of both the vehicles were injured.
The injured are undergoing treatment at several hospitals in the area.
Getting information, police recovered the body and it will be handed over to the family members after completing legal procedures, said Sheikh Nuruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Mollahat Highway Police Station.
The vehicles have been seized, but both the drivers managed to flee.
