15 shops burnt in Laxmipur

LAXMIPUR, July 12: At least 15 shops were gutted in a fire at Maju Chaudhurirhat Bazar in Sadar Upazila of the district early on Thursday. 

Three units of the Fire Services-Laxmipur brought the fire under control; goods of the shops of hardware, plastic and cloths were burnt. 

The fire service is investigating how the fire started.

Two businessmen and local UP member Abdur Rahman Swapan blamed the fire services delay in reaching the spot. 

According to locals, the fire broke out on the southside of the market immediately after Fajr prayer; the fire spread to the adjacent shops quickly; later on, the fire service personnel came and brought the fire under control. 

Assistant Deputy Director of the fire services in the district Abdul Mannan said, \We received a phone call at 6:20 am and reached the spot quickly; our three units took about an hour to bring the fire under control.”
