3 'robbers' held with arms in Noakhali

Three members of a cross-district group of robbers were arrested by the police from near Super Market area in Noakhali city on Tuesday night.

The arrested men are Yousof alias Chora Kala, 34, hailed from Laxmipur; Abdul Mannan Sohag alias Badda, 30, a resident of Sonaimuri upazila; and Ujjal,32, a resident of Mirwarishpur union under Begumganj upazila in the district.

Acting on this tip-off, a team of police conducted a raid in Noakhali Maijdee city and arrested the trio from adjacent to Noakhali Super Market. At that time, police recovered a shotgun and five cartridges from their possessions, said Mir Jahedul Haque Roni, officer-in-charge of Noakhali Sadar Police Station.

Following the incident, two separate cases have been filed against them for preparing to commit robbery, the OC added.
