Police recovered the body of an elderly woman, who had been missing since Wednesday afternoon, from a pond at Haziganj upazila in Chandpur district on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Koitorar Nesa, 85, a resident of Palisara village under Gandharbapursouth union in the upazila.
Family members said that Koitorar Nesa was a mentally disable woman. She used to get out from her house at any time. She went out from her house on Wednesday afternoon without informing any of her family members.
Family members later searched her but could not find out.
On Thursday afternoon, locals spotted her floating body in a water body near her house.
On information, police recovered the body and brought it to the Haziganj Police Station, siad Md Abdur Rashid, officer-in-charge of Haziganj Police Station.
The body will be handed over to the deceased's family members after completing legal procedures, the OC added.
