MYMENSINGH, July 8: Members of Muktijoddha Santan Command organized a human chain at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) campus on Mondfay, calling for the withdrawal of the gazette notification regarding the Prottoy Pension Scheme.

The protest, led by the Amra Muktijoddhar Santan BAU Organization Command, took place around 11 am in front of the Bijoy-71 Sculpture on the university grounds. The demonstrators demanded the cancellation of what they described as indifferent guidelines associated with the pension scheme.

Md. Solaiman Alam, general secretary of the organization, addressed the participants, voicing their concerns and criticisms.

Prof. Dr. Afrina Mustari, chief adviser of the organization, highlighted the ongoing unrest among university teachers and staff, saying, "For the last several days, teachers and staffers from various universities have been staging demonstrations or engaging in work abstentions, demanding the withdrawal of the Prattay pension scheme. We hope the Prime Minister will reconsider the Prottoy Pension Scheme and its indifferent guidelines. We want to return to our classes, examinations, and research. I hope our demands will be fulfilled soon."

Bazlul Islam, president of the organization, emphasized the persistence of their movement, saying they will continue their movement at district levels.

Following the human chain, a rally was held on the campus, concluding in front of the academic building after parading through the Bangabandhu Chattar area.    —UNB
