A teenage boy and a woman died on Thursday falling from the rooftop of two separate buildings in the capital.

The first incident took place around 10:00am at Pallabi in Mirpur while the second incident around 10:30am at Azimpur.
The dead were Zakaria, 18, hailed from Patuakhali's Baufal upazila, and Khairunnesa, 40, from Madaripur's Kalkini.

Locals said dead Zakaria was working as a mason in an under-construction 3-storey building in Madinabagh area of Mirpur Section-11 under Pallabi Police Station. Zakaria fell down from the third floor of the building after being electrocuted while working in the morning. He was immediately rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital where an on-duty doctor declared him dead.

On the other hand, deceased Khairunnesa's co-worker Milon, who brought her to hospital, said they were working on a four-storey building in a government quarter, adjacent to Azimpur Orphanage. Khairunnesa suddenly fell down from the fourth floor while working there.

Jyotsna Akter, sister of the deceased Khairunnesa, said Khairunnesa's husband Abul Hossain died a few years ago. Khairunnesa used to work as a laborer to run her family.
