Chattogram Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCCI) hold an exchange meeting with Japanese research delegation as part of the economic potential of the Bay of Bengal in Bangladesh at the chamber office on Tuesday.

IDE Jetro Research Institute Director So Umezaki said that Jetro is conducting research to verify the feasibility of various types of economic development in Bangladesh. Bangladesh has bright potential for connectivity with ASEAN countries, Myanmar and North Eastern regions of India especially Chattogram region. So Chattogram has endless possibilities on the long Bay of Bengal coast.
He also said this possibility is falling due to geographical limitations and non-entry of large ships to the region, he added. Therefore, Japan is researching how to increase the maritime trade potential in the Bay of Bengal region by utilizing the geographical advantage.

There are also various heavy industrial factories along the coast. Therefore, the Japanese research team called upon the government to recommend the formulation of a sectoral master plan to accelerate the potential of this long coast.
