BNP Secretary General Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said on Monday, "Awami League government has never told the truth to the people and they are trying to befool the people by lying about MoUs signed with India during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasinas recent visit to New Delhi."

Speaking with the reporters after paying homage and offering munajat at the grave of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman in the capital along with new office bearers of the Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum he said, "Ten MoUs signed with India will make Bangladesh dependent on India within a very short time. I will request the government to disclose to the people the details of the MoUs signed with India."
"I know they cannot do it so because they want to make Bangladesh subservient to India," he said.
He said the most dangerous thing was providing   railway corridor to India. "They (India) will use our land for their train movement. There will be no benefit in it for Bangladesh. India has been allowed to use Bangladeshs air, land, and waterways. We don have any objection to connectivity. What Bangladesh gained is the main question. We haven gained anything," he said. Fakhrul said Bangladesh still did not get its due share of waters of Teesta and other common rivers, border killings have not stopped.  "We e not hatching any conspiracy rather, the illegal regime is conspiring to make Bangladesh dependent on others," he said.

Fakhrul said Awami League has established fascist one-party rule in Bangladesh by destroying all the institutions.

He said the people are now not getting justice in the absence of due rule of law.

"People are also facing extreme financial hardship. Overall, Bangladesh has been turned into a failed state."

In another programme of Bangladesh Sammilita Peshajibi Parishad, a platform of pro-BNP professionals, at National Press Club, to mark the 43rd death anniversary of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman he asked the government to explain,

"How could former Inspector General of Police Benazir Ahmed and his family members leave the country after amassing assets illegally."

He said that the Benazir episode exposed the governments complicity with the corrupt.

"I saw a media report that Benazir and his family is in Singapore. Before fleeing he  withdrew around Tk 60 crore. I don know whether the amount is bigger," Fakhrul said.

He said, "My question is, how could he leave the country? What is the significance of a court order to confiscate his assets and freeze his bank accounts and the Anti-Corruption Commissions move to file a case against him? Though there was a ban on Benazir leaving the country, how could he leave Bangladesh?"

He said the ruling party leaders had claimed time and again that no corrupt person would be spared.

"Does the government consider the people as stupid? The government took to  eyewash and deception.

You e ruling the country using tricks." "We must protect the country from them. We believe that the people defeat the illegal regime and restore democracy," he said.
