Three burnt to death in Riazuddin Bazar fire

CHATTOGRAM, June 28: A fire on the first floor of Mohammadia Plaza in Riazuddin Bazar in Amtal area of the port city on Friday morning has been brought under control after three and a half hours.

Three people died in the fire and two others were injured in the incident. The injured are under treatment at Chittagong Medical College CMCH Hospital.
The fire originated at the market around 1:45 am Friday night, said the Divisional Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters Agrabad control room.

Nine fire fighting units brought the blaze under control around 5:30am on Friday morning, the control room said.
Two of the three victims have been identified as Md Riduan, 45, was son of Shamsul Alam from Paschim Gatiadenga area of Satkania Upazila, and Md Shahed, 18, was son of Beta Mia from the same area. The names of the rest could not be identified.

Confirming the matter, CMCH Police outpost Sub-Inspector (SI) Nurul Alam Ashek said a total of five people were brought to the hospital from the Riazuddin Bazar area.  Three of them were declared dead by the doctor on duty. The remaining two are admitted to the CMCH.

Chattogram Fire Service Assistant Director MD Abdul Malek said the cause of the fire and damage will be known after investigation.
