Tourism mentor Shahabuddin dead

Shahabuddin Ahmad, a distinguished figure in journalism and tourism, passed away at 89 due to cardiac arrest on Friday at Holly Family Red Crescent Hospital in the city. He was renowned as the Publisher-Editor of "The Travel World" magazine, also served as Chief of the Planning Cell at the Ministry of Civil Aviation & Tourism.

 His significant roles included Director at Bangladesh Bank and Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation. Post-liberation, he was instrumental in policy-making within the tourism sector. His illustrious career began with the Pakistan Bureau of Tourism and saw him hold vital positions in both Pakistan and Bangladesh.

He is survived by his wife and three daughters and was the elder brother of Bir Bikram Mahbub Uddin Ahmed and Dr Mohammad Haroonur Rashid. His final resting place is at Banani Graveyard. A Dua-Mahfil will be held on June 24 at Masjid Al-Magfirah in Uttara Model Town for his departed soul.
