Speeding vehicle leaves pedestrian dead on Hanif Flyover


A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a speeding vehicle on the Hanif Flyover in Wari Police Station area of the capital on Friday.

The identities of the victim, aged around 60 years old who was wearing a traditional dhoti and panjabi, could not be known immediately.
The accident took place at approximately 2:30 PM this Friday.

According to the police, the man was severely injured after being hit by an unidentified speeding vehicle while crossing the road on the Tikatuli section of the flyover.

Passersby rescued him and rushed him to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

Police sources said that efforts are underway to identify the vehicle involved in the accident by reviewing CCTV footage from the flyover and its surrounding areas.

"Police are also working to confirm the identity of the deceased," said police sources.

DMCH Police Outpost inspector Md. Bacchu Mia stated that the body has been kept in the hospital morgue for autopsy and the concerned police station has been informed about the accident.
