Missing woman's bare body recovered in M'singh

Police have recovered the bare and decomposed body of a woman, who had been missing for two days, from a house in Mymensingh Sadar upazila on Sunday.

The body was spotted on Sunday afternoon at the house of one Abdul Latif in the Churkhai area of upazila.

Deceased, Minara Akter, 35, was wife of Anisur Rahman from Dhala area in Trishal upazila and the daughter of Ramzan Ali from Radhakanai Union in Fulbaria.

Confirming the incident, Kotwali Model Police Station sub-inspector Wasim Kumar said, "Locals informed police after smelling a malodour emanating from Abdul Latif's house. Upon investigation, the police found the decomposed body, without any clothes, wrapped in a quilt on a bed in one of the rooms."

Later, police recovered the body and sent it to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for an autopsy, he said.
The police further informed that the house owner, Abdul Latif, who does not reside in the house. However, his son, Rajib, lived there and he has been missing since the incident came to light, he said.

Anisur Rahman, who identified himself as Minara's husband, stated, "Around 8am on Friday, my wife left for her father's house, taking my mobile phone with her. Her phone was unreachable from 11 AM that day, and she had been missing since then. Despite extensive searching, we found no trace of her. In the afternoon, I received information about a woman's body being found in Churkhai. I went to the morgue and identified the body as my wife's."

"However, Anisur Rahman claimed the woman as his wife, but the police are working to confirm her identity through fingerprint analysis," said SI Wasim Kumar.
Legal actions will be taken in this regard, added the SI.
