4 killed in Rangamati lightning

Four people, including a woman, were killed after being struck by lightning at different places at Langudu upazila in Rangamati district on Saturday afternoon.

Confirming the matter, Langudu Police Station officer-in-charge Harunur Rashid said that among the deceased, three were struck by thunderbolts while they were traveling on Kaptai lake, boarding on a boat, leaving them dead on the spot.

However, the identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

On the other hand, Rina Begum, 36, wife of Md Ibrahim, was killed when she was working at home in Korlachyari area under Atarakchhara union of the upazila and a streak of lightning struck her in the afternoon. She died on the spot.

Rangamati Additional Superintendent of Police Md Abdul Awal said additional police have been sent to the spot and legal actions will be taken later.
