Child among 7 killed, several injured in road accidents

At least seven people were killed and several others injured in separate road accidents in Tangail, Sylhet, Barishal and Chapainawabganj on Friday.

Our Tangail Correspondent reports, three passengers of a private car including a child were killed and three others injured after being hit by a truck at Kalihati upazila in Tangail district early Friday. The accident took place in Bagutia area in front of Bangabandhu Textile Engineering College (BTech) on the Tangail-Mymensingh regional highway.
The identities of the casualties could not be known immediately. The injured have been sent to Tangail General Hospital.

Elenga Highway Police Outpost In-charge Mir Sajedur Rahman said two private cars were going towards Mymensingh. On the way, a truck coming from the opposite direction hit a private car in Bagutia area first. The car fell into a roadside ditch.

Meanwhile, the truck lost control and hit another private car. Three people including a child of the private car died on the spot and three others were injured.

Our Sylhet Correspondent writes a motorcyclist was killed after being hit by a pickup van on the Sylhet-Tamabil Highway at Jaintapur  upazila of Sylhet district in the early hours of Friday.

The accident happened around 12:20am on Friday in Chiknagul Panichara area under the upazila.

The deceased was identified as Moinul Hossain Ayani, 55, son of late Esa Member of Umanpur village under Chiknagul union of the upazila. He was the Deputy Manager (Service) of Sylhet Gas Field Ltd.

According to local sources, the accident occurred when he was returning home from the main gate of Panichra Gas Field riding a motorcycle. On the way, a Jaflong-bound pickup van hit his motorcycle from behind around 12:20am, leaving him seriously injured, Jaintapur Police Stations official said.

Later, he was taken to a private hospital where the on-duty doctors declared him dead. Chiknagul Union Parishad Chairman Kamruzzaman Chowdhury confirmed the death matter, adding that on information, police seized the pickup van from the spot.

Our Barishal Correspondent adds at least two people, including a child, were killed and four others were injured after three vehicles collided on Barishal-Patuakhali Highway in Bakharokhani area of Bakerganj of Barishal on Friday morning.

The deceased were driver of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw Md Saidul Islam, 40, son of Md Abdus Salam Hawlader of Charadi area of Bakerganj, and passenger of the vehicle 4-year-old Jayan, son of Mezbah Uddin of Bagdia area of the upazila.

The injured were Mezbah Uddin and his wife, Hafez Mizan, 45, and Kawser, 32, were taken to Barishal Medical College Hospital.
Officer-in-Charge of Bakerganj Police Station Afzal Hossain said three vehicles collided in the area around 7:00am. They are investigating the incident.

Our Chapainawabganj Corresp-ondent reports, a motorcyclist was killed after a truck hit his motorcycle at Kallyanpur Square in Chapainawabganj municipality on Friday. The deceased was identified as Jahid Hasan alias Shamsul, 45, son of Abdul Matin, a resident of Nejampur village under Nachole upazila in Chapainawabganj district.

Md Mehedi Hasan, Officer-in-Charge of Chapainawabganj Sadar Model Police Station, said that the accident took place at around 11:45am.
