Four minors drown in Noakhali, Chandpur

Four minor girls drowned in separate incidents in two districts - Noakhali and Chandpur, in three days.
NOAKHALI: Two sisters drowned while bathing in a pond in Subarnachar Upazila of the district on Wednesday noon.
The tragic incident took place in Ward No. 3 Charmajid Village under Charjabbar Union of the upazila at around 1:30 pm.
The deceased were identified as Israt Jahan Suim, 9, and Afrin Akter Lamia, 5, daughters of Abul Kalam, residents of the village. Suim was a fourth grader while Lamia a kindergarten student at the local Jamia Islamia Dakhil Madrasa.
According to local sources, the two sisters returned home from their madrasa at around 1 pm and went to take bath in a pond near to their house. When the girls were not seen for some time, their family began searching for them. Unable to find them anywhere, the family members then searched the pond and eventually rescued the two girls from there.
They were then rushed to Noakhali General Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared the duo dead.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Charjabbar Police Station (PS) Kausar Alam Bhuiyan confirmed the incident, adding that the bodies have been handed over to the deceaseds family as no complaint is received from them.
CHANDPUR: Two schoolgirls drowned while bathing in a pond in Matlab Dakshin Upazila of the district on Monday.
The incident took place in Charpathalia Dewanbari area under Matlab Dakshin Municipality at noon.
The deceased were identified as Nusrat Akter, 9, daughter of Dulal Dewan, and Mithila Akter, daughter of Ripon Dewan. Both of them were residents of the aforesaid area and third graders at Charnilakshi Government Primary School.
According to the local sources, the two girls went to the pond to take bath after returning home from school at noon. At one stage of bathing, they went missing in the pond.
The family members then rescued them and took to a nearby hospital, where the on-duty physicians declared the duo dead.
