Ritu Akter wins silver medal in Malaysia Open

Bangladesh woman athlete Ritu Akter won the silver medal in womens high jump event at the Malaysia Open Athletics Championships jumping the distance of 1.75 meter on Friday.

Ritu who set a new record of 1.76 meter in the national summer event last February improved herself in the international competition abroad. There, she competed 15 athletes from ten countries and transcend her previous result.

With the participation of some 500 athletes, the six-day long competition rolled on Thursday at the Stadium of Darul Makmur Kuantan in Pahang, Malaysia. A total of seven Bangladesh athletes are representing the country there.

Bangladesh is expecting another medal from athlete Jahir Rayhan who made it to the semi-finals of the mens 200-meter sprint.

 The Bangladesh sprinter clocked 22.26 seconds in the third hit of the event into reaching the semi-finals on the day.
