Two madrasah students
drowned in a pond at Sreepur upazila in
Gazipur district on Friday.
The incident took place around 11:00am on Friday at Moralpara area in Kawraid union of the upazila.
The deceased were identified as Zahid, 10, son of Kalu Mia, and Nasir, 10, son of Kaium. Both were residents of Morolpara village under the union and students of a local madrasah.
According to the deceased family members, they returned home on the vacation of Eid ul Adha on Thursday. They both were classmates and playing beside the pond adjacent to their house.
After finding them nowhere for a while, family members and relatives started looking for the children and recovered them from the pond.
They were taken to Sreepur Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared them dead.
Confirming the matter, Sreepur Police Station officer-in-charge Akbar Ali Khan said since there was no complaint from anyone over the death, the bodies of the two children were handed over to the families.
