North South University (NSU) and Progressive Columnist Forum of Bangladesh jointly organized a seminar titled ‘কারাগার থেকে কারামুক্তি: বঙ্গবন্ধু থেকে শেখ হাসিনা ’ marking Prison Release Day of Sheikh Hasina. The seminar was held at Audi-801 of North South University.

Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, Education and Cultural Affairs Adviser to Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, was present as the Chief Guest, and Professor Mizanur Rahman, President of Bangladesh Progressive Columnist Forum was present as the Chief Discussant.

Besides, Ms. Nazma Akhter, Member of Parliament, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Professor Rashid Askari, Vice President of Bangladesh Progressive Columnist Forum, and Md Afizur Rahman, Executive Director of Dainik Bangla, and Newsbangla 24 were present as special guests.
General Secretary of Bangladesh Progressive Columnist Forum Professor Milton Biswas presented the keynote paper at the seminar. North South University Vice-Chancellor Professor Atiqul Islam presided over the program.

In his welcome address, Professor Abdur Rob Khan, Treasurer and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Acting) said, “Sheikh Hasina was kept in prison in very poor condition. As a national leader, she has faced injustice and this should not repeat.”

Prof Milton Biswas said, “A new chapter in the history of Bangladesh started with the release of Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina from prison. It was a beginning in the country's progress.”
Prof Mizanur Rahman said, “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's biggest contribution to the politics of Bangladesh was to get back politics to the politicians from the cantonment. We'll have to continue our struggle against all anti-national forces only then Sonar Bangla as dreamt by Bangabandhu will be realized.”

Ms. Nazma Akhter said, “Bangabandhu was murdered through domestic and international conspiracies, the same thing is being plotted over and over against Sheikh Hasina. She spent her
whole life for the people of the country, but she was imprisoned in false cases.”

Professor Rashid Askari said, “Sheikh Hasina has felt the pain of her father's long imprisonment. Sitting in the dark cell of the jail, she made the next plan for the development of the country.”
Md Afizur Rahman said, “Just as there was propaganda about Bangabandhu after 1975, similarly propaganda was carried out about Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina. But we have to know the truth as well as present the real history in front of everyone.”

Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury said, “The British said that there are stories in this subcontinent, but there is no history. Now we can say we have history. The history of glory, the history of forming a new country. Bangabandhu gifted a nation-state to the Bengalis.”

Prof Atiqul Islam said, “North South University believes in the spirit of the Liberation War, secularism, and tolerant Bangladesh.” He thanked the guests for their participation in the event.
Asif Bin Ali, Lecturer at the Media, Communication and Journalism Program and Director of the Public Relations Office of North South University conducted the programme.
