Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested the prime suspect in murder of a truck driver from Doshmina upazila in Patuakhali district.
The accused Hasan, 28, who was the helper on the truck, was apprehended in Uttara, Dhaka, on Saturday night during a joint operation by RAB-8 and RAB-1.
ASP Faizul Islam, the media officer for RAB-8, confirmed the information on Sunday.
According to RAB, the victim and driver of the truck Alauddin, 33, went to Barishal from Chattogram to transport 13 tons of iron rods on the evening of April 17. At around 11 pm of April 18, Alauddin informed his employer that he had reached the Kalishuri point under Bauphal upazila in Patuakhali district. Shortly thereafter, he went missing.
On April 20, Alauddin’s mutilated body was discovered in the Tetulia River near Patachar village in Doshmina of Patuakhali.
Following the identification of the body, Alauddin’s uncle, Md. Sabuj, filed a murder case with Doshmina Police Station.
Later, the elite force conducted a raid in the capital's Uttara and arrested Hasan.
Earlier on Thursday night, RAB had arrested another suspect in the case, Shahin, 28, from Narayanganj.
