Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury underscored the necessity of incorporating cultural and social dimensions into teaching methods during a conference on Monday.

Speaking at the inauguration of a two-day international conference organised by Dhaka Universitys Institute of Education and Research and Knowledge and Innovation Exchange (KIX), held at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building, the Minister highlighted that effective policies must consider cultural and social contexts.
"If policymakers fail to understand a countrys cultural and social nuances, their policies will be ineffective," Chowdhury asserted. "Relying solely on information-based research for decision-making ignores these critical factors. Policies need to reflect the societys readiness and context."

He further elaborated that over-reliance on data without considering societal readiness could render policies impractical. "Decisions grounded only in data without considering the social fabric will not be embraced by society," he added.

Minister Chowdhury also advocated for moving towards more engaging and context-sensitive educational practices.

"Our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina envisions an education system where learning is enjoyable. To achieve this, we must adopt activity-based and experiential learning methods," he said.

Addressing the specific challenges faced by both urban and rural students through data analysis was also emphasised. "By understanding and addressing these challenges, we can make better-informed decisions that serve all students effectively," Chowdhury noted.

He called on all stakeholders involved in education, whether in the private sector or government, to actively participate in policy-making to create a more inclusive and effective educational framework.
