Dear Sir
On Sunday, a Chattogram court sentenced a youth to death for the heinous murder of a five-year-old child in Mogadia village, Mirsari upazila, back in 2010. The convicted individual, Kazi Nahid Hossain Pollob, son of Fazlul Kabir, was found guilty of strangulating his neighbor, Kazi Moshiur Rahman Washim, over a land dispute.
The court of First Additional District and Sessions Judge of Chattogram, Robiul Awal, pronounced the verdict, underscoring the severity of the crime committed. In addition to the death sentence, Pollob was also fined Tk 50,000, with an additional six months of imprisonment prescribed in case of default. It is noteworthy that the court acquitted the convicts brother, Kazi Iqbal Hossain Biplop, as no allegations were proven against him during the trial. The murder case, filed by the victims uncle, Kazi Enamul Hoque, on November 23, 2010, brought to light the tragic circumstances surrounding Washims untimely demise, which stemmed from a dispute over land.
This verdict serves as a reminder of the importance of justice and accountability within our society. It is a testament to the commitment of our legal system to uphold the rights of victims and ensure that perpetrators are held accountable for their actions.
