A young man was allegedly hacked to death by drug dealers over controlling drug business at Sonargaon upazila in Narayanganj district on Sunday night.
The incident happened around 10:00 pm at Bari Mojlis village under Mograpara union in the upazila.
The dead was Rabbi, 22, son of Akkas Ali, a resident of the area. .
It was known that Rabbi and his friend Shah Alom went to the area around 10:00 pm. At that time, a team of five to six people, who were waiting from earlier, led by drug dealer Antu hacked them with machetes, leaving the duo critically injured.
Locals rescued them and took to Sonargaon Upazila Healthe Complex where on-duty doctors declared Rabbi dead.
Shah Alom was released after taking first aid.
Md Mohsin, inspector (investigation) of Sonargaon Police Station, said on information, police recovered the body and it will be sent to a hospital for autopsy.
Attempts are under process to detained the culprits in a connection with the incident, the police official added.
