On the occasion of the 125th birth anniversary of poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, a seminar titled Nazrul of Folk Bengal was held at Sonargaon in Narayanganj on Sunday.
The seminar was organized on the premises of Bangladesh Folk Art & Crafts Foundation where Hashem Khan, professor emeritus of the University of Dhaka and member of the board of directors of the foundation, was present as the chief guest.
Director of Bangladesh Folk Art & Crafts Foundation, folklorist, poet and researcher Dr. Aminur Rahman Sultan presided over the seminar.
Poet and essayist Piyas Majid presented the keynote speech at the seminar while AKM Azad Sarkar, Deputy Director of the Foundation, gave a welcome speech conducted by AKM Muzzammil Haque, registration officer of the foundation.
In the event, the students of various educational institutions of Sonargaon participated in a drawing competition. Later, prizes were distributed among the winner of the competition.
