Siblings drown in Sherpur

A teen girl and her brother drowned while bathing in the Ghoramara River at Nokla upazila in Sherpur district on Thursday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Maria Akter Mim, 12, a fourth grader, and her brother Masud Rana, 8, a first grader, both were children of Motaleb Hossain and residents of Biharipara area under Gonopoddi union of the upazila.
According to the relatives of the deceased, the duo went to the river to take bath around 2pm on Thursday. At that time, they went missing and drowned there.

Sensing their absence, family members started searching for them and recovered their bodies after few hours.

Nokla Police Station officer-in-charge Abdul Qader Khan confirmed the death matter and added that an unnatural death case will be filed in this regard.
