Tea worker killed in landslide at Kamalganj

KAMALGANJ, MOULVIBAZAR, June 1: A female tea worker was killed and three others were injured in a landslide in Kamalganj Upazila of the district on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Gita Kahar, 30, daughter of Shankar Kahar, a resident of Patrakhola Tea Garden in the upazila.
According to locals, Gita and her several co-workers were on the way to the workplace in Khasia Punji area of the upazila. At that time, a mound of mud collapse on them, which left her dead on the spot and three others critically injured.
Adampur Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Abdal Hossain said the injured were rescued and being treated at a local hospital.
The body of the deceased was recovered and handed over to her family members, the UP chairman added.
Kamalganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Joynal Abedin confirmed the death matter, adding that financial assistance will be provided to the families of the deceased and the injured.
