Four people died after inhaling toxic gas inside separate septic tanks in two districts - Laxmipur and Bogura, in four days.
RAIPUR, LAXMIPUR: Two construction workers died and another fell sick after inhaling toxic gas inside a septic tank in Raipur Upazila of the district on Sunday.
The accident took place in an under-construction building in front of Farukia Madrasa under Raipur Municipality in the afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Kader, 21, son of Khorshed Alam, and Robin, 28, son of Zakir Hossain. Both of them were residents of Bayati house of the Mirganj road under the municipality.
Sick Shakib Hossain is also a resident of the same house.
All of the three were construction workers by profession.
According to Fire Service and locals, some bamboos fell into the septic tank while they were working in an under construction building in front of Farukia Madrasa under Raipur Municipality in the afternoon. Robin and Kader went down to the tank to pick the bamboos. After a while, there was no response from them. Then Shakib also went down to rescue them. Meanwhile, all of the three fell sick inside the septic tank. At one stage, Shakib managed to come up but the other two could not.
On information, members of the Fire Service rescued them and took to Raipur Upazila Health Complex, where Robin and Kader were declared dead by the on-duty doctor.

BOGURA: Two cleaners died after inhaling toxic gas while cleaning a septic tank in a house in Shahjahanpur Upazila of the district on Thursday afternoon.
The incident took place in Agra Pashchimpara Village under Gohail Union of the upazila at around 4 pm.
The deceased were identified as Bimol Banshfor, 50, and Lathial Banshfor, 45. Both of them were cleaners by profession and residents of Sweeper Colony in Bogura District Town.
It was known that the two cleaners were cleaning up the septic tank of toilet in the house of one Sohrab Hossain in Agra Pashchimpara area of Shahjahanpur in the afternoon. At one stage, both of them died inside the septic tank after inhaling the toxic gas.
On information, the Fire Service members rushed in and recovered their bodies. The bodies were, later, handed over to police.
