A three-member team of the Detective Branch (DB) of police led by DIG Harun ar Rashid will leave for India by Sunday morning to investigate the murder of Jhenaidah-4 (Kaliganj) MP Anwarul Azim Anar.

"Apart from Bangladesh police, Kolkata police are also investigating the murder of the lawmaker. By today or tomorrow, three DB officials including me will go to India. Our GO (government order) has already been done. Now, we will go to India if the Inspector General of Police (IGP) gives his consent," said DIG Harun ar Rashid while speaking at a press briefing held at the DB Conference room in the capital on Saturday.
He said, so far, no specific motive for the killing has been identified. "Different motives might have involved behind the murder. It might be sequel to a previous enmity, financial dealings or political issues.

In response to a question about why the police termed it a murder despite nobody being found, Harun explained that there have been many cases where a body has not been discovered for years.

The Jhenaidah-4 MP crossed the Darshana-Gede border into India for treatment on May 12. He got into his friend Gopal Biswas' house at Baranagar in North Kolkata of West Bengal.

The following day, he left to see a doctor at noon and was expected to return in the evening. However, a WhatsApp message from his phone to Biswas stated that he went to Delhi instead and would call if necessary.

Since then, he could not be reached by phone. His friend Gopal lodged a general diary at the local police station on May 18. Then investigation began in both bangladesh and India.

Eventually, on May 22, the Indian media, citing Indian police, informed that Anwarul Azim MP of Bangladesh was murdered at a flat at Sanjeeva Gardens in posh New Town area.
