Shovon stands first at national-level folk dance competition

Zahid Hasan Shovon, a student of Pabna's Santhia Shilpakala Academy, won the first place in the 'Gha' group at the national-level folk dance competition organized by the Ministry of Education on the occasion of National Education Week 2024.  

Shovon is a second year BSc student at Santhia Government College, son of Nurul Islam Khokon and Jeeban Nahar of Boailmari village under Santhia Municipality in the district.

Shovon won the first place in the competition organized on the occasion of National Education Week 2024 held at Dhaka Teachers Training College on Tuesday (May 21). Earlier, he won first place at college, upazila, district and division level. On Tuesday, a total of nine competitor participated in the competition, including eight champions of eight categories from across the country and one from Dhaka city. In the final competition, Shovon won the first place.

Jobair Ahmed Chayan, dance teacher of Shovon, said, ''I am proud of his achievement and wish him more success in the future.''

Santhia Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Shilpakala Academy President Zahidul Islam said, ''I think Shovon's achievement is a matter of pride not only for Shilpakala Academy but also for Santhia Upazila. May he do better in the coming days and may his fame spread outside the country. He will be fully supported by me to move forward in the future.''
