Three crushed under train in three districts

Two men and a schoolgirl were crushed under train in separate incidents in three districts - Cumilla, Jhenidah and Narayanganj, in three days.

CUMILLA: A schoolgirl was crushed runder a train in Adarsh Sadar Upazila of the district on Thursday.

The accident took place in Mazar Gate area near Rasulpur Station at around 11 am.

The deceased was identified as Mim Akter, 13, a ninth grader at Rasulpur High School.

Locals said Mim was crossing the railway line through the gate to go to school. At that time, the Dhaka-bound Chattla Express and Chattogram-bound Parjatan Express were crossing the area. She saw the train on one side but did not see the train on the other side, and was crushed under a train. She died on the spot.

Hearing the news, the classmates of the girl came to Rasulpur Station and blocked the railway line. The Dhaka-bound Mahanagar Provati Express train got stuck at Rasulpur Station due to this.

Cumilla Railway Station Police Outpost In-Charge Mustafa Kamal said on information, police were sent to the scene.

Later on, the body of the girl was recovered and sent to Cumilla Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy, the police official added.

JHENIDAH: An elderly man was crushed under a train in Kaliganj Upazila of the district on Tuesday noon.

The accident took place in Chachra Rail Gate area of the upazila at around 12 pm.

The identity of the deceased, aged about 65, could not be known immediately.

Police and local sources said the Khulna-bound Rocket Mail train crushed the man at noon when he was sitting on the railway line near Chachra Rail Gate, which left him dead on the spot.

Being informed, the Fire Service personnel recovered the body from the scene and handed Our Correspondent over to the police.
Locals assumed that the man might have committed suicide.

Officer-in-Charge of Kaliganj Police Station (PS) Abu Azif confirmed the incident, adding that the law enforcers are trying to identify the deceased.

NARAYANGANJ: A man was crushed under train in the city on Tuesday morning.

The accident took place in Pagla Railway Station area under Fatullah PS in the city at around 8:30 am.

The deceased was identified as Nur Alam Telu, 53, son of Abdul Baten, a resident of Ward No. 21 Duttabari area in the city.
Police and local sources said Telu was a drug addict.

However, a Narayanganj-bound train from Dhaka crushed him in Pagla Railway Station area in the morning, which left him critically injured.

Injured Telu was then rescued and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at around 10 am while undergoing treatment.

Sub-Inspector of Narayanganj Railway PS Mokhlesur Rahman confirmed the incident.
