Pregnant woman, son killed as tree falls on house in Kishoreganj

A nine-month pregnant woman and her minor son were killed when a tree fell on their house in Kishoreganj's Karimganj upazila on Saturday night.

The accident took place  at around 11:30 pm at Niamatpur Hajipara Ghonar Bari village.
The victims were Roop Tara, 45, wife of Abdul Qayyum of that village, and her son Taijul Islam, 5.

Karimganj police station officer-in-charge (OC) Mizanur Rahman confirmed the it.

The OC said that a tree fell on the tin-shed house of farmer Abdul Qayyum during thunderstorm that started around 11:30 am on Saturday. Abdul Qayyum's 9-month pregnant wife Roop Tara and her son Taijul died on the spot after the house collapsed. Roop Tara's mother was injured at that time.
