DU fresher drowns in campus swimming pool

A student of Dhaka University (DU) died on Monday while bathing at the universitys Physical Education Centres swimming pool.

 Md Sohad Haque, 19, was immediately taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) by fellow students, where doctors on duty declared him dead at around 2:15 pm.

Since Sohad knew how to swim his death by drowning raised questions among fellow students.

The cause of his death could not be known immediately.

Sohad was a first-year student of Philosophy and a resident at Haji Mohammad Mohsin Hall.

DU Physical Education Centre Director Md Shahjahan Ali told the Daily Observer he had learnt from teachers and students that Sohad had been suffering from respiratory complications.

Proctor Prof M Maksudur Rahman said, Shohads local guardians  requested DU authorities to hand over his body without holding autopsy.
Shohads body would be taken to his ancestral home in Bogura for burial.
