One killed as roof of bus ripped off after crashing into tree in Sirajganj

A man was killed after a bus's roof was ripped off after being hit by a roadside tree in Sirajganj's Shahjdpur upazila on Monday morning.

Seven other passengers were also injured. Of them, three are in critical state, according to Shajadpur Upazila Health Complex doctors.

The accident took place at about 6:30am on the Bogura-Nogorbari highway.
The deceased was Al Shamim, hailed from Pabna's Sujanogor upazila.

Quoting the eyewitnesses, Hatikumrul Highway Police Station inspector Md Monirul Islam said a Dhaka-bound bus belonging to C Line left Pabna in the morning. When the vehicle reached Tetiarkandi area, the driver suddenly lost control over the steering and hit a roadside tree. Then the roof of the bus was ripped off.

Getting information, a police team went to the spot and rescued eight of the injured with the help of local people and sent them to the Shajadpur Upazila Health Complex where Shamim succumbed to his injuries later.
