BSK Bangladesh Ltd, a Netherlands-Bangladesh joint venture company is going to set up a bag manufacturing industry in Cumilla EPZ.
They will invest $6.14 million to produce annually three million pieces of handbags, backpacks, travel bags, wallets and trolley bags, read a press release issued on Wednesday.
The company will create job opportunities for 1032 Bangladeshi Nationals, reports BSS.
In presence to the Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, an agreement to this effect signed between the BEPZA and BSK Bangladesh Ltd at BEPZA Complex in the city.
Member (Investment Promotion) of BEPZA Ali Reza Mazid and Chairman of BSK Bangladesh Ltd. Jeroen Herms signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.
Welcoming the BSK Bangladesh, Executive Chairman of BEPZA thanked them for choosing Cumilla EPZ as their investment destination.
The Executive Chairman said that BEPZA is the pioneer Investment Promotion Agency of Bangladesh and has been successfully operating eight EPZs with only 934 hectares of land.
From the tiny piece of land, the authority contributes around 20 per cent of the country's total export, he added.
Executive Chairman of BEPZA urged the investors to start the construction of the factory as soon as possible. He also requested the investor to invite their Dutch friends to invest more in Bangladesh.
Member (Finance) Md Ashraful Kabir, Executive Director (Admin) A N M Foyzul Haque, Executive Director (Investment Promotion) Md Tanvir Hossain and Executive Director (Public Relations) ASM Anwar Parvez along with the First Secretary of Economic Affairs of Dutch Embassy Sara van Hoeve and Managing Director of BSK Bangladesh Md Balal Hossain were present during the ceremony.
Bi Shaokai (Sophie), Chairman and Joris Guisado, Managing Director of BSK Fashion Development Co. Limited, a sister concern of BSK Bangladesh Ltd were also present during this time.
