Three people die after inhaling toxic gas inside septic tank

Three people including a teenage boy died inhaling toxic gas inside a septic tank in Laxmipur and Lalmonirhat recently.

LAXMIPUR: Two people including owner of the house Riyad Hossain, son of Noor Nabi Leda of the area, and a cleaner of the area died after falling into a septic tank on Sunday

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Raipur Police Station Yasin Farooq Majumdar said the cleaner entered the septic tank of the house in West Rakhalia Village of Sonapur Union under the upazila and got trapped inside the tank.

Later on, the owner of the house Riyad went down to rescue him around 8pm on Sunday night and died there inhaling toxic gas.
Being informed, police and fire service rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies, he said.

The bodies were kept at the Raipur Upazila Health Complex.

LALMONIRHAT: A teenage boy died after falling into a septic tank in BDR Haat area in the district town recently.

The deceased was identified as Wajed Islam Tarif, 13, son of Waliur Islam, a resident of the area.

According to Fire Service and local sources, Tarif fell into the septic tank after the slab of a toilet broke down at around 3 pm.  Locals and the family members tried to rescue him but failed.

After one hour of attempt, they informed the matter to Fire Service.

On information, a team of divers from Lalmonirhat Fire Service Station rushed there and rescued Tarif, said Wadud Hossain, deputy assistant director of Lalmonirhat Fire Service Department.

Tarif was then taken to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital, where the on-duty physicians declared him dead, the official added.
