Police on Monday arrested the prime accused in a case filed over murder of forest official Sajjaduzzaman from Chattogram.
The arrestee was Md Bappi, the driver of the dumper truck which was used to kill the forest official.
Police using the technological surveillance arrested the prime accused Bappi from Chattogram city on Monday afternoon, said Cox's Bazar Superintendent of Police Md Mahfuzul Islam.
He said Bappi was taken to Cox's Bazar and details of the arrest will be informed at a press conference on Tuesday morning.
On March 31, Md Sajjaduzzaman, a beat officer at Dochhari Forest in the Ukhiya Range of Cox's Bazar South Forest Division, was reportedly crushed under a dumper truck while confronting culprits engaged in illegal hill cutting within a reserved forest area in Ukhiya.
On April 1, Md Shafiul Alam, Ukhiya range officer of the Department of Forest, filed a case over the incident naming 10 individuals and five unnamed others.
On the same day, police arrested an accused of the case, Syed Karim, during a drive carried out in Ukhiya.
