Mohammedan Sporting Club, the traditional black and white outfits, stormed into the semifinals of the Federation Cup Football following a 20-minute action of the team in a 2-1 quarter-final match against Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra on Tuesday.

Although the boys in black and whites digested a goal in only 25 seconds of the match in Gopalganj, they finally managed to come back and win the match against a big-budget team.

The margin was 1-0 until the 69th minute of the match. But the Mohammedan boys kept trying to level it. Repeated attacks from all fronts dismantled the spirits of the Russel boys and left them entirely helpless.

Mohammedan SC, one of the big guns in Dhakas club Football, has had its bad days in the last few years but is in the process of restoring the lost name and fame. That endeavour was proved once again as the boys successfully made the margin even when their Uzbekistani midfielder Mozaffarov took a powerful shot and sent the ball into the post.

In the second minute of the injury time, M Jafar Iqubal took the lead for the defending champions.

Now, Old Dhakas Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society will meet Bashundhara Kings in the second quarter-final on 16 April in the same venue.
