Truck driver held with illegal Indian sugar


Police arrested a truck driver along with 26 sacks of Indian sugar at Kulaura upazila in Moulvibazar district on Wednesday night as he failed to show any legal documents.

The arrested was Abdul Jalil, 35, hailed from Barlekha upazila in the district.

Kulaura Police Station sub-inspector Abu Das Gupta said a team of the police staion, on a tip-off, conducted a frisk at a truck in South Bazar area and found a total of 26 sacks of Indian sugar.

Police later arrested truck driver Jalil as he was not able to show any legal documents for those goods
During initial questioning, the driver admitted that the sugar was illegally bought from India.

A case was filed against two people including Jalil with the police station in this regard, the SI added.
