The death toll from Meghna trawler capsize rose to six as three more bodies were recovered from the Meghna River on Sunday.
The deceased were Anika Akter, 18, daughter of Daru Mia of Narsingdi district, Rupa Dey, 38, wife of Turun Dey of Bhairab municipality area, and Mahmuda, 7, daughter of police constable Sohel Rana.
Local people spotted the floating bodies of the three people in Bhairab Bridge and Pultakanda areas of the river and informed the fire service unit.
Later, the unit recovered the bodies around 2:30 pm.
On March 22, a trawler capsized after being hit by a sand-laden bulkhead around 6pm in the part of the river flowing through Bhairab upazila of Kishoreganj district.
One person died while eight others went missing. Later two more bodies were recovered on Saturday afternoon during the search operation.
The deceased were constable Sohel Rana's wife Moushumi, seven-year-old daughter Mahmuda, and Subarna, 40, from Bhairab.
Meanwhile, three people identified as Belon Dey, 38, Sohel Rana, 35, and Sohel’s son Raisul, 5, still remain missing.
