Palestine defeats Bangladesh 5-0

Palestine defeated Bangladesh in a 5-0 match in the second round of joint qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2027 AFC Asian Cup on Thursday midnight at the Jaber al-Ahmad International Stadium in the Ardhiyah area of Kuwait City in Kuwait.

Winning the match and obtaining the full three points, the Palestine boys stick to the second place in Group I as they now have four points in total. Bangladesh boys, on the other hand, have fallen to the bottom of the point table, the fourth place, with only one point.

At this moment, team Australia is leading the point table with nine points from three matches. Playing the same number of matches, Lebanon is in third place with two points.

On the day, Bangladesh was hoping for at least a single point from the Palestine match in Kuwait. Bangladesh came to the field with a challenge against such a strong team like Palestine. But the Kuwaiti venue did no good for the team. In reply, the war-torn country returned home with the first win in the World Cup qualifier with five goals in the net of Bangladesh.

Bangladesh had a good start in the match and continued a challenging norm. But a mistake of the defence resulted digestion of two goals in the first half. Bangladesh goalkeeper Mitul Marma guarded the post with an iron claw and saved the post twice in the half.

But in the second half, Palestine changed the game entirely and scored three more.

The 5-0 defeat was the biggest defeat against Palestine for Bangladesh. Despite losing five of the previous six matches, Bangladesh was always able to pit Palestine in two goal-margin in all the previous meets. This time Palestine truly devastated Bangladesh.

Earlier, the Bangladesh national football team reached Kuwait on Sunday to play the match there.

Now, the boys will return home and prepare for the home match against Palestine scheduled to be played on 26 Match in Dhaka.
