Adv Juthi gets bail in SCBA vandalism case

Advocate Nahid Sultana Juthi secured anticipatory bail on Wednesday in a case filed over violence during the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) election.

A High Court bench of Justice Abu Taher and Justice SM Masud Hossain Dolan granted the bail petition and passed the order.

The court also granted bail to Adv Shakila Roushan, Barrister Chowdhury Mousumi Fatema (Kabita) and suspended assistant attorney general Sheikh Jakir Hossain Masud in the same case.
Adv Sheikh Awsafur Rahman Bulu was present on behalf of Juthi. The state was represented by deputy attorney general KM Masud Rumi.

Adv Juthi is the wife of Jubo League chairman Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash.

Earlier on Tuesday, Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan fixed a new bench for hearing the anticipatory bail petition of Nahid Sultana Juthi, an independent secretary candidate in the SCBA polls.

On Monday, a High Court bench of Justice Md Salim and Justice Shahed Nuruddin refused to hear the anticipatory bail petition of Juthi, Adv Shakila and Barrister Kabita.

On March 8, assistant attorney general Md Saifur Rahman Siddiqui Saif filed an attempt to murder case at the Shahbag Police Station.

In the case, he made 20 people, including Independent secretary candidate Nahid Sultana Juthi and Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kajol, accused.
