Jagannath University Assistant Proctor Deen Islam and classmate Raihan Siddique Amman have been found partially involved in the suicide of Law Department student Fairuz Abantika, according to Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

DMP Additional Commissioner K Mohid Uddin disclosed this during a press briefing on Sunday.
Responding to a quarry of the journalists, the DMP Additional Commissioner said, "The two accused were under our observation after the incident. They were arrested after a case was filed against them for instigating Fairuz Abantika to commit suicide.

"Initially, we found the allegations to be true, but not all accusations have been proven yet. They were found to be partially involved in the incident," he added.

Police will determine the level of involvement of the arrested following an in-depth investigation, he said.
Abontikas mother Taslima Begum filed a case with the Cumilla Kotwali Police Station naming Amman and Deen Islam on Saturday. DMP arrested both of them over the case on Saturday night and handed them over to the Cumilla Kotwali Police on Sunday.

Before her death, she accused Amman of sexual harassment through "online comments." She added that Assistant Proctor Deen defended Amman, and threatened to expel her.

He said Abantikas mother filed the case with Cumilla Kotwali Police Station on Saturday night where she mentions in her case statement that Amman Siddique harassed her daughter sexually on online and offline platforms, while Deen Islam abused her verbally when Abantika informed him about the matter.
