A court in
Dhaka on Thursday sent
BNP-backed 'Blue' panel's secretary candidate Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kajol to jail in a case filed over violence during the Supreme Court Bar Association (
SCBA)
election.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saifur Rahman passed the order as the police produced Kajal, also former secretary of the SCBA, before the court after concluding his four-day remand in the case and pleaded to keep him behind the bars till end of the probe.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Nurul Huda Chowdhury on March 10 placed the pro-BNP lawyer on four-day remand in the case lodged with Shahbagh Police Station.
Police on March 9 arrested Kazal from his Topkhana Road chamber.
Earlier on that day (March 9), another court had placed five other accused lawyers on three-day remand in the case.
The five accused lawyers are Adv Qazi Bashir Ahmed, Adv Tushar, Adv Toriqul, Adv Enamul Haque Sumon and Barrister Osman Chowdhury.
Earlier at night on March 8 (Friday), assistant attorney general Md Saifur Rahman Siddiqui Saif filed an attempt to murder case at the Shahbag Police Station.
In the case, he made 20 people including Independent secretary candidate Nahid Sultana Juthi and Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kajol accused.
