College student killed as motorcycle crashes into tree

A college student was killed after his motorcycle crashed into a roadside tree at Tungipara upazila in Gopalganj district on Saturday night.

The accident took place around 11:00 pm on the Tarail-Tungipara road in Dumuria union area.

Deceased BM Tanmoy, 20, was son of Fayek Bishwas, a resident of Gimadanga village in the upazila. He attended an admission test at Dhaka University on February 23.

Tariqul Islam, cousin of the deceased, said three people were returning home on a motorcycle after playing a cricket match

At one stage, the motorcycle hit a roadside tree losing control, leaving Tanmoy dead on the spot and two others injured.

The injured were rescued and taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital.

Tungipara Police Station inspector Ahammed Ali Bishwas said a general diary (GD) was lodged at the police station in this regard.

No complaint was submitted from the family of the deceased, he added.
