Armed Police Battalion (APBn) arrested four members of Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) along with a huge amount of firearms from a Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar's Ukhiya on Thursday night.
Md Amir Jafor, captain of APBn-8, confirmed the matter at a press conference held at its office on Friday afternoon.
The arrested were Amin, 23, Petan Sharif, 43, Abul Kashem, 33, Syedur Rahman, 25, residents of different camps in Ukhiya and top-listed terrorists.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of the APBn conducted a drive at camp no 15 and caught them red-handed along with a huge amount of firearms, said Amir Jafor.
He said some five one-shooter guns, one LG, 36 rounds of rifle bullets, eight rounds of shells, four rounds of Kurtz, three grenades, three large crackers, one walkie-talkie set, two machetes, one slingshot and two iron chains were seized from their possessions.
During the initial questioning, the arrested admitted that they were planning for a major sabotage to control the camp, Jafor said.
They were handed over to Ukhiya Police Station for legal action, he added.
